Joey's Journey: Back to St. Louis roots with FOX 2

Born and raised in the St. Louis area, I joined the digital content team at FOX2Now in May 2022. It's a thrill to create web stories, social media content and more for my hometown after several years of digital production for other TV stations in Missouri and Illinois. 

Through my first year and a hald, my stories are averaging around one million page views per month and I've been named among the Top 25 monthly authors in Nexstar (parent company of FOX 2) at least eight times. The power to connect with hundreds of thousands of viewers, to be first and to provide something you just can't find anywhere else, especially in my hometown, makes this role rewarding. I am also involved with a Nexstar leadership development program for digital journalists. 

One of my favorite parts of the job is covering the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. Fans connect with both teams very strongly, and it's been a lifelong dream to find a role that allows me to tell the stories of both teams. In October 2022, I had an amazing opportunity to cover the St. Louis Cardinals' postseason run and St. Louis Blues season opener as a credentialed media member, creating stories and talking to players and coaches. I've since followed up with credentialed work opportunities around Cardinals Spring Training and Opening Day, St. Louis CITY SC's inaugural home game and several other St. Louis Blues matchups. 

Beyond that, the job allows me to work with out digital content to execute breaking news, check court documents and plan out long-term coverage topics, like severe weather, elections. I am hopeful the best is just getting started and strive to learn something new every day.
